Czech National Delegation to the European Committee of the Regions

27.05.2025

At the last meeting of the Czech national delegation to the European Committee of the Regions on 14 and 15 May 2025, one of the main topics was the proposed revision of cohesion policy for the period 2021-2027. The delegation prepared several amendments to the upcoming CoR resolution on this revision, which the delegation unanimously supported. The revision will have only a limited impact for the Czech Republic, given its already high level of fund absorption.

The delegation also discussed with representatives of DG ENER the preparation of the Social Climate Fund and the so-called Energy Package for Citizens, which are intended to help households reduce energy costs and support a just transition in the regions. The fund will be financed from the new ETS 2 emission allowance trading and the Czech Republic should receive an allocation of EUR 1.6 billion. The discussion highlighted the need to include not only low-income groups in the support and at the same time better link the new instruments with cohesion policy.
